
Federal forces detained an alleged member of a criminal organization operating in the east of Mexico City in a municipality of the State of Mexico, reported security agencies of the Mexican Government. The detainee is linked to a criminal group dedicated to the sale of narcotics, extortion, and kidnappings in the eastern area of the city and the State of Mexico.
In a joint statement, it was reported that the secretariats of Security and Citizen Protection, National Defense, and Navy, along with the Attorney General's Office, National Guard, and local prosecutors, conducted the operation that resulted in the detention of Brandon Salvador ‘N’. The capture took place in a property in the municipality of Coacalco, State of Mexico, where illicit substances, cash, weaponry, a laptop, and a mobile device were seized.
The detainee was made available to the Public Prosecutor for the corresponding investigations. The operation is part of actions to dismantle criminal groups in the region, aiming to reduce violence and crime in the area. On the other hand, recently, federal forces also detained another alleged member of a criminal organization operating in Mexico City and the State of Mexico in Querétaro, accused of various crimes.
Additionally, the Mexican Senate approved the 2024-2030 Public Security Strategy proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, which focuses on addressing the root causes of crime, consolidating the National Guard, strengthening intelligence and investigation, and coordinating security efforts. Since the beginning of Sheinbaum's term, Mexican authorities have carried out numerous arrests and drug seizures as part of actions to combat crime in the country.
